Did you know that over 80% of childcare centers serving low-income children lack age appropriate books?  Or that a recent study showed that the ration of books per child in middle-income neighborhoods is 13 to 1, while in low-income neighborhoods is 1 age appropriate book for every 300 children.  Now those figures scare me and worry me about he future of our children.  I look at my own children’s book collection and it is full of classics and age-appropriate titles for them.  I feel awful knowing there are children out there that don’t have any books or the ones they do, they are not suitable for them.

Well Cheerios is taking a stand in their 100,000 Book Giveaway along with First Book and Jon Scieszka, author of the popular “Trucktown” series and other children’s books.  To help out the cause, all you have to do is go online with your child and test your combined knowledge of children’s books by answering trivia questions related to “Trucktown” and other great children’s books.  For every trivia question answered correctly, you can cast one vote for the state you would like to receive the books.  The five states receiving the most votes will get 20,000 books each, for a total of 100,000 books. 

I also want too add that if your like me and not a book trivia person, you can still guess!  It is nice too as if you get the answer wrong, it tells you the correct answer!  It doesn’t hurt to guess and if you guess right, you get to vote, which all you have to do is click the state you want.
